Interpersonal communication

Self-awareness and positive communication

The foundation programme behind most of the others. Two days using DISC and the Enneagram to see your own communication defaults, recognise the situations where they cost you, and build enough flexibility to reach people who work nothing like you.

What this training gives you

Understanding your own personality and how you communicate is the groundwork for personal development and for the quality of your working relationships.

Two days on what you do by default, what it costs you in the situations where it does not fit, and how to widen the range without becoming someone else.

Why teams here ask for it first

Organisations in Seychelles are small enough that one poor working relationship is visible across the whole company, and there is rarely the option of moving someone to another floor. The cheapest fix is usually the one this training works on: two people who each understand what the other is doing.

Groups are kept small so that everyone works on situations they are actually in.

Questions about this training

Is this the starting point for the other trainings?

For most people, yes. The management, Enneagram and assertiveness programmes all assume you can already see your own defaults. This is where that is built.

What do DISC and the Enneagram each add?

DISC works on observable behaviour and gives a team a shared vocabulary quickly. The Enneagram works on motivation and on what happens under pressure. Two days is enough to be useful in both, and not enough to be expert in either, which is stated plainly on the day.

What is positive communication, concretely?

Saying the thing that has to be said in a form the other person can act on, rather than in the form that comes naturally. Most of the two days is spent practising that on situations participants bring.

Which language is it run in?

English, French or Spanish, whichever suits the group. Seychellois Creole is not a delivery language, and groups usually settle on English.

Knowing yourself to communicate better and stand your ground

Knowing how you work is the groundwork for communicating well and holding your position. Three days on the Enneagram: two together, then a third some weeks later once the tools have been tried on real situations and the difficult ones have surfaced.

DISC and Driving Forces

Two instruments that answer different questions: DISC describes how a person behaves, Driving Forces describes why. Two days, an individual report for each participant, and a worked relationship strategy for the colleagues they find hardest.
